About The Code Factory
TheCodeFactory is a business incubator and start-up co-working space. Our purpose is to facilitate the formation, growth and incubation of early stage technology businesses into successful team based companies. While we focus on technology businesses this is an open, inclusive and high trust environment where everyone is welcome.
TheCodeFactory opened on May 26th 2008 in downtown Ottawa, Canada. We are located at 246 Queen Street between Bank Street and Kent Street, above the Green Papaya Restaurant. Our facility occupies both the second and fourth floors. The second floor is open and accessible to the public from 9am to 5pm on business days. There is a lounge, meeting rooms and cafe like work area with a pay per use model. The fourth floor is accessible to tenants only and consists of 7 private office spaces and one shared office space.
Our model is proven to work and has evolved based on member usage and requirements. The intent is to blend harmoniously with the existing ecosystem of the local environment while providing unique and distinct services to start-ups. Since our inception TheCodeFactory, our members and groups we are affiliated and have facilitated the creation of; Students and Start-ups, The Buddy System, Team Camp and Start-up Club. TheCodeFactory leverages organic contributions to improve our ability to serve the start-up community better. Our goal is to develop a replicate able model suitable for deployment in other locations.
TheCodeFactory philosophy is based on the premise of a pay it forward, goodwill model where the success of all stakeholders is carefully considered to ensure that everyone benefits. We do not and nor will we ever take an equity stake in any of the start-ups utilizing the facility. Our intent is to develop a success based model with the best interests of our tenants always first and foremost.
