Founder: Ian Graham, MBA, CMC
Ian Graham thinks different, challenges the status quo and is a passionate entrepreneur committed to helping early-stage businesses succeed and grow. He is founder of TheCodeFactory which is a business incubator and collaborative co-working space in Ottawa, Canada. The incubator focuses on early-stage software start-ups in the web 2.0 and mobile 2.0 spaces and leverages the native strengths of the local ecosystem.
Ian has worked with numerous start-ups as a Management Consultant. Ian has a Certified Management Consultant Designation, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, and a technology diploma from Algonquin. Ian’s community engagement activities include Chair of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants Hi-Tech SIG, member of the Board of Directors for the Free Open Source Software Learning Centre, Mentor with Canadian Youth Business Foundation, co-founder of Team Camp, founder of Students and Start-ups, and Dean of Awesome for Awesome Ottawa. His goal is to start a PhD in entrepreneurship and innovation at Stanford University in 2013.
Brian Alkerton
Assistant Facilitator Brian Alkerton has a knack for making connections between people, places, and ideas. Born and raised in Ottawa, he's come back after a brief detour to Toronto where he picked up his BA in Economics at York University in Toronto. In addition to his work at TheCodeFactory, Brian's the co-founder of #GenYOTT, a networking group dedicated to bringing together the ambitious and talented young people of Ottawa. Brian is always up to date on the latest tech trends and brings a diverse set of talents to TheCodeFactory, with past experience in the Travel, Marketing, and Education industries.
