Hope you can make it. Everyone that would like to attend is welcome.
The first small victory for TheCodeFactory was filling the 4th floor in October of 2008 when Blindside Networks moved in. They have since graduated from office 408 to 401. We are very proud to be home to this great Ottawa startup that have achieved many accolades including; Mozilla Fellow and OBJ start-up to watch. The most recent Blindside hire was also facilitated by TheCodeFactory’s Students and Startups 12 event. Fred Dixon is unofficially our entrepreneur in residence, he is literally both an entrepreneur and in residence.
Ian Capstick and the MediaStyle team were our first graduate and while we were really sorry to see them go it was great to know that they set up close by in their very funky space. MediaStyle started here as a single desk on our second floor which they quickly outgrew and graduated to their own office on the fourth floor suite 407. Not long after they expanded and opened a studio in suite 408. In December of 2011 MediaStyle became the first tenant to officially outgrow our space.
From a community perspective I am incredibly proud of the tremendous grass roots support for the facility. It is time for a little celebration and everyone is welcome. There will be complimentary beverages, light snacks and entrepreneurial themed prizes for those in attendance. Hope you can make it.
I can sincerely say that I feel grateful everyday for the incredibly intelligent and creative people that I have the opportunity to chat with on a daily basis for the past 4 years. By being surrounded by really smart people you learn lots just by osmosis. One of our projects for 2012 is to launch TheCodeFactory Learning Centre ... more details on this in the coming months. This is a project that has been in the works for many months. The intent is to add a more formalized learning environment that will compliment the naturally occurring learning by osmosis.
